Fly Fishing
As the water temperatures drop and the water levels begin to rise in the surrounding mountain rivers and steams the trout start to feel safe, comfortable and lower their guard for some well presented flies. With such a great fishery and an abundance of water to explore, the mountains of North Georgia makes for a great stopping place for those in search of solitude and a trout stream all to themselves. Wing Shooting
From now until the end of March it's the prime time to go wing shooting in the North Georgia mountains. Take advantage of some fantastic "Southern style" bird (quail, pheasants, chukar) hunts in a scenic mountain setting just 90 minutes from Atlanta instead of spending more money on gas for out-of-state trips. The ground cover is still thick, but manageable, and the quail covey rises are exhilarating with the added surprise of an occasional pheasant or chukar partridge.
