North Georgia Wineries

EBR email banner logoWith fall quickly approaching, the local GA wineries are preparing to harvest their grapes. Two of our favorite places to visit are listed below. Many of these wineries offer lunch and dinner specials, so please make a reservation in advance should you choose to stay the entire day.

Crane Creek Vineyards, Young Harris, Georgia. Crane Creek Vineyards sits high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, just three miles north of the quaint college town of Young Harris in the shadow of Brasstown Bald, the state's highest peak (4,784 feet to the summit). This month they have released their new Mountain Harvest Red, a semi-sweet Chambourcin, so be sure to sample a bottle over dinner with your friends. Crane Creek Vineyard offers tours daily and they have a lovely café that offers a full dinner or just coffee and dessert if you please.
Frogtown Vineyards, Dahlonega, Georgia.
Frogtown is a 57 acre wine estate located at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains equal distance between Dahlonega and Cleveland Georgia. Frogtown encompasses 40 acres of vineyards and a tri-level gravity flow winery specifically designed to produce the unique wines made from Frogtown grapes. Frogtown Vineyards have tours on most days, but it's best to call or visit their website for a complete schedule of events. www.frogtownwine.com

EBR email banner logoTake a white water rafting trip down the Ocoee River this September to mark the end of summer. White water rafting is one of the most popular mountain adventures in Blue Ridge and the surrounding North Georgia mountains. You can enjoy an exhilarating white water rafting trip as a couple or with a larger group, while providing a challenging and exciting adventure to be remembered.

The most popular white water rafting company with our guests is Ocoee Rafting, which is less than 20 minutes away from Blue Ridge, Georgia. Ocoee Rafting trips are between 1.5 and 2 hours and take you down the Ocoee River through an amazing gorge within the Cherokee National Forest. You'll be able to enjoy 20 continuous rapids and enjoy several spots to play along this scenic river. People of all experience levels will enjoy the Class 3 and Class 4 rapids that are recognized as one of our country's premier rivers (also part of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics).
If you do not have white water rafting experience or desire a more leisure ride, consider packing a cooler and tubing down the river instead.

As everyone eases back into the rhythm of work, school days and relentless scheduling, that relaxing summer vacation fades quickly from the mind. Now, between packing lunches, back-to-school nights and soccer practice, not to mention your own job, closing your eyes on the beach is a distant memory. With no long weekends or holidays after Labor Day, back-to-school season can become dreary and routine. Instead of falling into a mind-numbing cycle of carpools, commuting traffic and homework, plan something the whole family can look forward to this September.

Come up to Blue Ridge, Georgia to enjoy the Mercier Orchards U-Pick Apple Events every weekend in the month of September. The Mercier Orchard has been producing some of the state's top apples for over 60 years, and is still a family-run business. So come up and pick your own apples and enjoy other U-Pick events every Saturday and Sunday in the month on September only! You can complete your mountain getaway by taking in some of the local Blue Ridge festivals and mountain recreation.

The orchard wagons head out at 10am and finishes around 4pm, so make your cabin reservations with us and start planning your September mountain getaway today.
