Golf in North Georgia Mountains

If you happen to be an avid golfer, North Georgia has some of the most beautiful golf courses. The three that we most often visit are the Brasstown Valley resort, Whitepath Golf Course and the Butternut Golf Course.

Brasstown Valley Resort
Located in Young Harris, Georgia and only 35 minutes from Blue Ridge, Brasstown Valley Resort offers a spectacular mountain golf experience with scenery as breathtaking as the play is challenging. It's great for the corporate outing, couple's getaway or the guy's weekend.The Brasstown Valley Golf Club has been ranked by both Golf Digest and Leading Golf Courses of America as one of the top courses to play in Georgia. Whitepath Golf Course
Located in Ellijay, Georgia and only 15 minutes from Blue Ridge, Whitepath Golf Course offers 18 glorious fairways surrounded by breathtaking views of the North Georgia Mountains. A trout stream and four lakes come into play, and abundant wildlife including deer, quail and turkey can be observed throughout the course. Butternut Creek Golf Course
Located in Blairsville, Georgia, the Butternut Golf Course is surrounded by the majestic beauty of the North Georgia Mountains and features 6,536 yards of dramatic fairways. This par 73 offers 18 holes and is open year round. The grounds consist of bent greens and bermuda fairways. A pro shop is also located on the grounds that can fulfill most of your golfing needs. North Georgia Waterfall Hikes

Hiking to the cool waterfalls is one of our favorite activities during the summer. Our three favorite waterfalls are the Amicalola Falls, Dukes Creek, and the Tallulah Gorge.

Amicaloa Falls
Located in Dawson County Georgia, the Amicaloa Falls has three different trails that you can take, all of which gives you a great view of the falls. The Amicalola Falls East Ridge Trail is a steady, strenuous climb to the top of Amicalola Falls. The Amicalola Falls Trail is a steep, staired descent along the face of the waterfall to the reflecting pond, with a return to the visitors center along the Base of Falls Trail. On the Amicalola Falls West Ridge you can explore the western ridge of Amicalola Falls, then join the Falls Trail at the lower bridge.

Dukes Creek
Located in White County Georgia, Dukes Creek Falls Trail is a series of three switchbacks that lead down to falls on Davis Creek at its confluence with Dukes Creek. There are water cascades on Dukes Creek. Also Dukes Creek is a favorite for catch-and-release fishing. There are over five miles of trails and 18 miles of roads that allow hikers and bicyclists to explore hardwoods, streams and wildlife.

Tallulah Gorge
Located in Rabun and Habersham counties, Tallulah Gorge is one of the most spectacular canyons in the southeast. Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep. You can hike rim trails to several overlooks, or obtain a free permit (limited to 100 per day) to hike down to the gorge floor. Kayaking and in-gorge hiking are allowed. A suspension bridge sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, providing spectacular views of the river and waterfalls. Harry Potter Movie / Swan Drive-in
July 15 - August 04
Located at 651 Summit Street. Built in 1949 this historic theater is open nightly through the summer. Now showing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! Rated PG. Come out and sit under the stars, eat a funnel cake, have a hotdog and enjoy the movie. Showtime is at 9:15 p.m. Adults are $6.00, Children 4-11 are $3.00, 3 and under are free. Bring a blanket or a lawnchair or you can sit in your car.

Classic Musical Comedy / The Fantasticks

Located at 11 Mountain Street next to Blue Jeans Pizza. The Fantastics is one of the longest running plays off Broadway and is an American classic that brings audiences back again and again to hear the story of "A boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall" and the music that defined generations. An evening of true theatrical magic. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 P.M. and Sundays at 2:00 P.M. Tickets are $15.00 with discounts available for groups, seniors and children. Smokey Bear's Birthday Party

Located off highway 64 in West, Copperhill at the Ocoee Whitewater Center in Ducktown, TN. Help celebrate Smokey's birthday. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free cake and ice cream and Smokey HUGS! Birthday Cake carved at 1:00 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a day by the river with games, activities, fire prevention messages, prize drawings and demonstrations. Located off 515 at the Cohutta Pet & Feed. Local farmers set up with their crops for sale, farm fresh eggs, produce etc.... also locally made products and crafts. Every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Vendors pay $3.00 for market space and they set their own prices for the items they sell.
