North Georgia fall festivals

October is the busiest month for festivals in the North Georgia mountains, so come up and enjoy some of the following festivals!

Oktoberfest Helen, GA September 10 - October 31
Come and attend the south's longest lasting Oktoberfest in Georgia's own Alpine village! Begin your journey by traveling from Blue Ridge on the winding roads while viewing the beautiful fall colors. Art/Live Theater Blue Ridge Community TheaterOctober 2-4, October 9-11
Located at 2591 East 1st Street across from The Swan Drive-In. "Art" by Yasmina Reza. How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art? Fall Festival at John C. Campbell Folk School, John C. Campbell Folk SchoolOctober 3-4
Seven miles east of Murphy, NC, off U.S. Highway 64, just north of Georgia's state line. Come and enjoy one of the largest and most popular events of its type in the region and only a short drive from Blue Ridge. The Fall Festival is a celebration of our rich Appalachian heritage. Cherry Log Fall Festival, Cherry Log, GAOctober 3-4, 10-11, 17
Just 5 miles east on 515 from Blue Ridge and follow signs. First 3 weekends each October, the community of Cherry Log celebrates the harvest with the Cherry Log Festival. Serving delicious homemade breakfast and lunch, offering arts and crafts, homemade cakes, pies and canned goods, bluegrass, gospel and country music at the Cherry Log Community Clubhouse, 341 Cherry Log Street. Halloween Horror Putt-Putt, Lilly Pad Village

7 miles down Aska Road. Come to The Lilly Pad Village for a night of frightful fun on our lit mini-golf course. Open nightly from October 1st through the 31st with special Fright Nights on the 3rd, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and the 30th. Percentage of all proceeds will support charity. Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, Hiawassee, GA

Sorghum Festival, Blairsville, GA

Meeks Park (located on Hwy 76 just before Blairesville City Limits on your right)Georgia's official Sorghum Festival, one of the longest running festivals in north Georgia. A parade kicks off the 2 weekend event. Bluegrass music, cloggers, plus many other forms of entertainment add to this event which features a variety of artists and craftsmen who sell handmade goods. Sorghum is the 3rd most popular cereal grain in the US, and a staple of early Georgia farmers going back to the early 1800's. This is a very festive time and a great event for the entire family. Prater's Mill Country Fair, Dalton, GA
October 10-11
Mountain music, southern foods, living history exhibits and handmade crafts and original art of 185 artisans. Demonstrations including: blacksmithing, spinning, quilting, rug hooking, woodcarving and hand tufting. It's fun for all ages! Heritage Days, Talking Rock, GA
October 17-18
Town will be filled with booths featuring a wide variety of arts, crafts and antiques. There will be interesting demonstrations for the young and old, Blue Grass and Southern Gospel Music and good food. Go back in time by visiting the restored 1877 Talking Rock Schoolhouse Teaching Museum. Or, join hobbyists from all over the country in "riding the rails" in restored railcars. A caravan of railroad motorcars is expected to roll into town and stop at noon on Saturday. You can also enjoy a ride in a donkey cart, meet the Town Crier, relax with the kids in the park and check out our new Mural. Vogel State Park 11 miles south of Blairsville via U.S. Hwy. 19/129.Celebrate autumn's arrival with: a cakewalk at 2 pm, chili and drinks for sale at 5 pm, hayrides start at 5:30 pm, bonfires and line, square and round dancing at 6:30 pm, and hear a professional storyteller around a bonfire at 8 pm. Also look for demonstrations and competitions with traditional mountain pastimes like hog calling, a liars' contest, crosscut sawing, clogging and buck dancing, and bluegrass music. Annual Harvest Festival, Crane Creek Vineyards, Young Harris, GA
October 24
About 25 minutes east of Blue Ridge, GA. Celebrate the completion of the year's harvest. There will be hayrides, grape stomping, tours of the winery, a kiddie tent and fun for the whole family. Farmer Browns Pumpkin Ride on the Train, Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad,

Lots of fun for the whole family. Board the train take a ride out to Farmer Browns Pumpkin Patch, get off pick out you're pumpkin then ride the train back to town. Price is $16.00 per person. Halloween Safe Zone / Nightmare on Main Street, Downtown Blue Ridge, GA
October 31
Hundreds of costumed kids and grown-up kids plus your pets are welcome to gather in downtown Blue Ridge to celebrate. Businesses stay open late to pass out candy and treats. Parade and costume contest. Fun begins at 4:30 pm and runs until 8:30 pm. Costume contest begins at 5:00 pm, with a pet contest at 7:30 pm. Annual Copper Basin Halloween Costume Parade, Downtown McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN

Take Hwy 5 (by McDonalds) north about 10 minutes until it deadends at the state line in McCaysville, GA.Downtown merchants will distribute free candy to children in costume.
