Mercier Orchards
Founded in 1943, Mercier Orchards is celebrating 67 years of business. Mercier Orchards is a family owned and operated apple orchard nestled in the North Georgia Mountains of Blue Ridge, GA. Mercier's has an incredible country store that not only offers 8 varieties of apples, but wonderful baked goods and other products. The Mercier Orchards also has an Online Store that offers the same selection of Mercier quality apples and products that you find in the country store in Blue Ridge, GA. Everything from their famous "Fried Apple Pies" to their "Fresh Apple Cider", "U-Pick Apples" and, of course, the best North Georgia Apples you can get.

This month Mercier's is hosting "a taste of the mountains". This is a fun event that includes a wonderful wagon ride through the orchards and apple picking on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The current varieties of apples available via Upick are Jonagold, Honey Crisp, Shizuka, Empire, Hampshire, Smokehouse, Golden Delicious, Golden Supreme, and Gala. Hillcrest Orchards
Only 90 minutes from Atlanta, you can visit Hillcrest Orchards and farmers market in Ellijay, Georgia. Hillcrest is family owned and operated and offers loads of fun for kids, adults and seniors. You can pick your own apples during the "Apple Pickin' Jubilee", which takes place the last three weekends in September (11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26th) and every weekend in October from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The children (and adults) can even milk a cow, watch live pig races, visit the petting farm, take a wagon ride through the orchard, visit the Moonshine Museum and watch live bands and cloggers on the Hillcrest Stage. A playground and giant slide are also located on the Hillcrest property, so the kids will have a grand time. Admission for the "Apple Pickin' Jubilee" is $5/person and an additional $3/person for the Petting Farm.

Hillcrest Orchards also has a fabulous bakery and ice cream parlor for homemade fried apple pies, apple cider, doughnuts, apple fritters, homemade ice cream and fudge. So come hungry!

Pickin' in Horseshoe Bend Park

Location: Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park, McCaysville, GA

Hwy 5 (Blue Ridge Highway) north till it ends, then right on Hwy 60 and then right on River Road, follow to the park entrance on your right.Pickin' in Horseshoe Bend Park - every Thursday, 6:00 PM to dusk. Live music jams and pickin' on the banks of the Toccoa River at the Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville. Free Admission. And the park is wheelchair accessible. Come out, bring the whole family to enjoy the experience. Picnic tables are available or you can bring a blanket or chair and sit on the nice grassy lawn. I Hate Hamlet

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater

The laughter continues as we enjoy our third play of the season celebrating the year of comedy. Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity and acclaim from his starring role in a hit television series; a rich beautiful girlfriend; a glamorous, devoted agent; the perfect New York apartment; and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. There are, however, a couple of glitches in paradise. Andrew's series has been canceled; his girlfriend is clinging to her virginity with unyielding conviction; and he has no desire to play Hamlet. When the ghost of John Barrymore and a pushy L.A. agent show up, Andrews life is no longer his own. The laughs are nonstop as Andrew wrestles with his conscience, Barrymore, his sword, and the fact that he fails as Hamlet in Central Park. Tickets are $15.00, show runs 4 weekends, Friday and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and a 2:00 PM performance on Sunday's. Friday Night Concerts

Location: Historic Union County Courthouse

From Blue Ridge, take Hwy 515/76 to Blairsville to 19/129 turn right is located in the center of the square.Hear live concerts each Friday evening in the old historic courthouse. The acoustics in the old courthouse are amazing. Listen to music from easy listening to old fashion bluegrass. Different performers each Friday night, visit their website for the current schedule of performers. Music starts at 7:00 PM. Concerts in The Old Courthouse on the Square are presented by the Union County Historical Society as a public service, and to keep alive the tradition of music in the old courthouse. There is no admission fee. The musicians donate their time and talents. Voluntary donations to the maintenance fund are always welcomed and appreciated. Blue Ridge Mountain Photographer's Exhibit Opening

Blue Ridge Farmers Market
September 4
Location: Historic Downtown Blue Ridge

Local farmers set up with their crops for sale, farm fresh eggs, produce etc.... also locally made products and crafts. Every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Vendors pay $3.00 for market space and they set their own prices for the items they sell. They will also be offering classes on select dates with topics such as "Local Herbs," "Cooking with fresh herbs and vegetables" Facebook users can become a fan and follow their schedules at the following link. Fall Plein Air Festival in Blue Ridge
September 10 - 12
Location: The Art Center in Historic Court House at 420 West Main Street

Fall brings a riot of color to the mountains of North Georgia. Join artists from all over the Southeast, as they set up to capture nature's colorful gift prior to the gray of winter. This festival coincides with the international Plein Air Festival and will showcase the artists in our region. Sponsored by Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association. Labor Day BBQ

Everyone is welcome to come to downtown Blue Ridge on Monday for a great family style entertainment, featuring Ole Time Music, Bluegrass and Gospel. This popular event includes Appalachian, bluegrass and gospel music; arts and crafts booths; demonstrations on spinning, blacksmithing and bowl carving; and food concessions provided by Vogel Volunteers. $2-$5 plus $5 parking. Bluegrass Festival
September 17 - 19
Location: Downtown Blairsville on the square

Hwy 515/76 from Blue Ridge, turn right on 19/129 go to the square General Information: Hours are not available at this time, please check back as event gets closer. Free admission, but donations to support the event are welcome. Bluegrass jamming all around Historic Downtown Blairsville. Music performance on three stages all day long. Blairsville area restaurants (within close walking distance) will be serving food and staying open late especially for the Festival. Please patronize them. Don't forget to bring a chair or blanket for the outside stage. In case of rain, we will have an alternate site nearby. Wildlife and Nature Art Festival and Expo
September 18 - 19
Location: Downtown City Park, Blue Ridge

This festival showcases the works of the finest wildlife artists in the Southeast. More than 75 artists displaying original works including sculpture, painting and woodworking will be present. Two days of herding dog demonstrations. Participants in the Expo will be showcasing all the best that our area has to offer, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping and boating. Ride the Rails Festival
September 18 - 19
Location: Mineral Bluff

150 Railroad Avenue (Hwy 60 north, railroad avenue is next street on your left after the stop sign at Spur 60)7th Annual Event. This is a two and one half mile round trip by railroad motor car traveling through the Iron Bridge over the beautiful Toccoa River, then returning over the bridge back to the beautiful Mineral Bluff Depot. Train ride donations: $5.00 for adults $3.00 Children 2 to 12. Food, Cotton Candy, Popcorn, Hot Fresh Coffee, Cold Soft Drinks, Model Train Sales, Tee Shirts, Motor Car Display Area and Local Vendors. A fun day for all! Mystery in the Mountains Train Ride
September 18
Location: Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad

This is popular event in its 5th year sponsored by the Rotary Club of Blue Ridge. Entertainment begins at 5:00 PM at the train station, including hors d'oeuvres, antique photographs and lassoing demonstrations. The train leaves at 6:00 PM. Riders are encourages to dress in an Old West theme. Dinner is included. All proceeds benefit Fannin County's Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy and is being sponsored by Rotary Club of Blue Ridge and also the Blue Ridge Community Theater.
