Helen, GA, Oktoberfest
, The south's longest lasting Oktoberfest in Georgia's own Alpine village. This event features live entertainment, great German and Austrian food and drinks. Enjoy this scenic ride from Blue Ridge. For more information, call the Helen Chamber of Commerce, 706-878-2181
October 4
Appalachian Weekend, Cherry Log Street, Cherry Log, GA.
Enjoy this event that is just 5 miles east from Blue Ridge on 515 from Blue Ridge. This year it is being held in conjunction with the first weekend of the Cherry Log Fall Festival which will be serving delicious homemade breakfast and lunch, offering arts and crafts, homemade cakes, pies, canned goods, bluegrass, gospel and country music. Storytelling will be all day beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finishing up with a finally from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with our own Dr. Craddock which is not an event you want to miss. The Story Express will be at Cherry Log Christian Church from 10AM until 4PM offering free books to children of all ages. Call the Craddock Center for more information. 706.632.1772
Copper Festival, Downtown Ducktown. Located on Hwy 5 from Blue Ridge to Hwy 68 come and celebrate the 2nd annual Copper Festival from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A pancake breakfast will be served at the Masonic Lodge from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. You can also enjoy the classic Car Cruise-In, Free admission to the museum or even enter the amateur Talent Show. Live bluegrass music will be performed by the Hiawassee Ridge, Blue Ridge Grass, and Steel String Session bands. Their will also be food and games for the children. 423-241-0158
Fall Festival at John C. Campbell Folk School, John C. Campbell Folk School. Located just seven miles east of Murphy, NC, off U.S. Highway 64, just north of Georgia's state line. This is one of the largest and most popular events of its type in the region, and a short drive from Blue Ridge, Fall Festival is a celebration of our rich Appalachian heritage. Celebrate the rich heritage of the Appalachians at the 34th annual Fall Festival, featuring the craft of 200 craftspeople, continuous live music and dance on two stages, craft demonstrations, food, kid's activities and much more. 10am - 5pm, Saturday & Sunday Admission: Adults: $5.00 Kids 12-17: $3.00 Under 12: Free

Food Fight and Chilli Cook-off 2nd Annual Polk County, Ocoee Whitewater Center. Located just off Hwy 5 North to McCaysville, left on Hwy 68, then left on 64/74 5 miles on left. 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Live music, Crafters, Artists and Concessions!!! Children's activities include face painting, games and an inflatable playground. $6.00 for ages 12 and up, $3.00 up to 12. Includes all activities, parking and all the chili tastin' you can handle! Farmers Market / Mountain Fresh Market, Located in downtown historic Blue Ridge in front of the Courthouse. Enjoy the fruits of labors from the local farmers who set up their crops for sale, which includes farm fresh eggs, produce, and fruits. You can also see beautiful arts and crafts. This event is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Blue Mountain Jam at Kiwanis Fairgrounds, Kiwanis Fairgrounds. Located at Jones St & Austin St. Experience real mountain Blue Grass Music. Musicians are local players. October 10 - 19
Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, Hiawassee, Ga. Enjoy hundreds of Arts, crafts & exhibits, plus clogging, singing, kiddie rides and a new show entitled the "Kay Rosaires Big Cat Encounter". This festival offers plenty of regional food and lots of fun for the whole family. And don't forget the Ole Time Fiddlers Convention. Apple Festival, Located in downtown Ellijay. Enjoy the thirty seventh annual Apple Festival, which includes over 300 vendors with handmade/hand crafted items, on-site demonstrations and plenty of good things to eat. Sorghum Festival, Blairsville, Ga. Located at Meeks Park, which is just off Hwy 76 and before the Blairsville City Limits. This is Georgia's official Sorghum Festival, which is one of the longest running festivals in north Georgia. A parade kicks off the 2 weekend event. Bluegrass music, cloggers plus many other forms of entertainment add to this event which features a variety of artists and craftsmen who sell handmade goods. Sorghum is the 3rd most popular cereal grain in the US, and a staple of early Georgia farmers going back to the early 1800's. This is a very festive time and a great event for the entire family. October 18, 19, and 25, 26
Mountain Harvest Arts and Craft Sale, Blue Ridge GA. The Farmer's Market is open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Mountain Arts & Crafts fair offers great food and fun for the whole family. No admission fee and free parking. Come and see all of the local Blue Ridge vendors, which are sponsored by the Fannin County Homemakers Council.
October 18
Fall Hoedown, Blairsville. Located in the beautiful Vogel State Park, which is 11 miles south of Blairsville via U.S. Hwy. 19/129. Celebrate autumn's arrival with a cakewalk at 2 p.m., chili and drinks for sale at 5 p.m., hayrides start at 5:30 p.m., bonfires and line, square and round dancing at 6:30 p.m., and hear a professional storyteller around a bonfire at 8 p.m. Parking $3. October 25
Paws In The Park, Downtown Blue Ridge City Park. Mark your calendar and plan to come and enjoy a day with your favorite pet. Event includes parade, pet education and demonstrations, rabies clinic, micro-chipping, contests, prizes, photos with your pet, and much more! 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Humane Society. October 31
Halloween Costume Parade and Trick or Treat "Safe Zone", McCaysville, Ga. & Copperhill, TN. Ghosts & goblins come out in their best costumes to compete in the annual Halloween Costume Parade. After the parade, costumed children can collect free treats from downtown merchants during the Trick or treat safe zone. More information to follow as it becomes available.
Halloween "Safe Zone", Blue Ridge GA. Located in downtown Blue Ridge. Hundreds of costumed kids and grown-up kids gather in downtown Blue Ridge to celebrate. Businesses stay open late to pass out candy and treats. Parade and costume contest.
